May 19, 2025

The Melton Oceania Night Market brought the soul and culture of the Pacific Islands to a dazzling final installment of this year’s International Night Market series held at Melton’s Town Centre. Families, friends and the wider Melton community gathered to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere which has succeeded in celebrating cultural pride through traditional food, music and art.

Entertainment on the night showcased the talent of the Tama Tatau, Sounds of Polynesia, Te Whare Haka o Narama, Maidens of Polynesia dance group and more. Interactive activities were also a big success, which included Fijian dance workshops, Cook Island Lei Making, Māori Ink Stamps and Cook Island drumming workshops. These performances were not only entertaining, but also educational to attendees who learnt more about the significance of each tradition within the Pacific Islands and broader Oceania region.

Pacific Island food vendors were present on the night, with Maui's Snack Bar being a popular stall amongst visitors. Tausami Time and Jevik Island Taste also delivered enjoyable Samoan and Pacific Island meals. With vans further offering burgers, paella, waffles and other desserts, the night market was sure to satisfy any craving held by attendees whilst also encouraging them to taste new flavours.

Local artists again showcased their creative talents with stalls featuring custom crafts, handmade jewellery, crochet and streetwear. Including these small businesses adds a meaningful touch to the Night Market, showcasing how Melton citizens continue to be in touch with our diverse communities and culture.

Overall, the Melton Oceania Night Market ended on a high note for the city of Melton. The Night Markets have left a lasting impression on attendees and will continue to inspire hope and representation for Asian, European and Oceanic communities alike.
